Detroit, MI – The National Roller Hockey League is excited to announce a press conference scheduled for the St. Louis franchise. The announcement is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 6:00pm [CST]. The press conference will introduce St. Louis and surrounding communities to the National Roller Hockey League’s newest franchise. The St. Louis team name, logo and home arena will be introduced at the press conference. St. Louis is rich in hockey history with the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and the former St. Louis Vipers, alongside area minor league franchises.
The St. Louis Vipers were one of two teams to operate in each RHI season - the other being the Anaheim Bullfrogs. The Vipers were the 1999 Murphy Cup Champions in RHI’s final season. “I know the passion the fans have in St. Louis having played against the Blues many times as a member of the Nashville Predators and have heard the passion they had for their Vipers,” stated NRHL VP of Corporate Sales Rob Valicevic. “I know that same passion remains, and they can’t wait for their team to defend its last roller hockey championship,” said Valicevic.
The NRHL created a signup list for those interested in tickets and team merchandise as part of the initial news release granting St. Louis a franchise. “We are more than ecstatic to get to St. Louis to announce the team. St. Louis is a roller hockey hotbed for talent and has a strong Vipers fans whom want to have a team again,” said Matt Wiedenhoeft, NRHL Co-Founder/President. Wiedenhoeft continued, “Bob Clouston & I knew setting out, the St. Louis market had to be home to a franchise. We granted the community a franchise awhile back and now we get to introduce it to them. Those who have signed up will receive an invite to the press conference”. The NRHL will send out invitations for the press conference to those who sign up. The invitations will be distributed via the email addresses submitted from those signed up on the lists.
St. Louis will be joined by Port Huron and the Detroit Dragons. The Port Huron name and logo will be announced at its May 31 press conference. NRHL Co-Founder & Commissioner Bob Clouston stated, “We are excited to officially announce St. Louis and add them as our first franchise outside of Michigan”. Clouston concluded, “We know the NRHL is going to do amazing in the community with its up-tempo, high scoring and gritty style of hockey. I can’t wait for the opening night puck drop”.
There will be time for questions from the press and fans at the conclusion of the announcement. The press conference will be streamed live online, then posted to our YouTube channel and other social media outlets.
